Join Lafayette Media Group and Special Olympics Indiana for the 2025 Polar Plunge, Saturday, February 8 at Lambert Field House.
This year marks the 26th year of the Polar Plunge in Indiana. With your help, we raised $1.16 million in 2024 and hope to break that record this season. The Polar Plunge is Special Olympics Indiana’ signature fundraising series and a bucket-list experience – challenging people to take an icy dip to demonstrate a commitment to the cause.
All funds raised by the Polar Plunge directly benefit the more than 19,000 Special Olympics athletes throughout the state, giving them the means to train locally and compete at the state level in more than 20 Olympic type sports. Many people don’t realize that Special Olympics Indiana does not receive any state or federal funding for its sports programs. That’s what makes the Polar Plunge so important for supporting our vision of a more inclusive world for all.
More than $11.4 million has been raised in the 25-year history of the Polar Plunge season. Each year, more than 3,000 Hoosiers of all ages and backgrounds participate in Polar Plunge events. Everyone who raises the minimum amount of $99 at a community Polar Plunge will receive a commemorative Polar Plunge T-shirt and cup.
It’s time for our December 2024 Lafayette Local Hero. From Lafayette Police Department, meet Officer Isidro Medrano, whose life’s purpose is to serve our community.
